| Dear Fairmont Family, This is our LAST newsletter of the year! Read for final announcements and some information on next school year!This is also my (Alex) last family monthly newsletter as this school’s Principal. Wow! Thank you to each of you for your support and love of our school during my time here. Somehow over the past 4 years, my heart has expanded to include all 400 of our incredible students and their families. There are no words to describe the pride and joy I feel in being part of this community and its continued growth and I will continue to be as I migrate back into a parent role and support our next chapter in new ways. I look forward to an exciting and celebratory last month with all of you! | Getting Ready for the Next School Year!/ ¡Preparándose para el próximo año escolar! | School Calendar: Here is our school calendar for the 24-25 school year. School Schedule:We are happy to say that not too much is changing for our school for next school year! We will have the same start and end times (8:05am-3:05pm), the same breakfast time (7:45am-8:05am). ECE will now have the same hours as K-5th – 8:05-3:05. Who is your child’s teacher for next year?! Unfortunately we won’t know this until August but when it is available you will see it in Parent Portal! Online Registration: Registration for the 2024-25 school year must be completed online. | Upcoming Events/ Evento por Venir | FIELD DAY:FIeld Day is around the corner! Students and families get READY! We have shifted a few stations and are looking forward to a day full of FUN and COMMUNITY! Here’s the schedule: Thursday May 23rd 9:00-10:05 ECE (1/2 & FULL) on the ECE Playground/Rock Friday May 24th 9:00-10:45 Kinder and 1st Grade on the Field Friday May 24th 1:00-2:40 2nd Grade through 5th Grade on the Field REMINDERS: Students will need closed toe shoes for field day. NO FLIP FLOPS or Sandals that are open toed. There are a few water stations but they DO NOT need a swimsuit. If younger students want to bring a dry change of clothes they can. If students choose to wear a swimsuit all day they MUST have a DCIS shirt on over their suit. Please remember to send a water bottle with your student, sunscreen and a hat if possible. There will be a station where students can purchase a snow cone for our PE fundraiser. See the flyer below for details. If you are interested in sponsoring a student in your class to have a treat, please send an extra $5 for a student and mark the envelope as EXTRA for their teacher to distribute. If you want to come and cheer on your student, please do! Times are above. We’d love some help with stations in the afternoon if possible. Please reach out to Ms. Brooke if you are able to run a station from 1:00-2:40 Friday the 24th. brooke_reves@dpsk12.net We will have plenty of big kid helpers for ECE the 23rd and the morning of the 24th. Let’s make it a day to remember! | ¡El Día de Campo está a la vuelta de la esquina! ¡Los estudiantes y las familias se PREPARAN! ¡Hemos cambiado algunas estaciones y esperamos un día lleno de DIVERSIÓN y COMUNIDAD! Aquí está el horario: Jueves 23 de mayo 9:00-10:05 ECE (½ dia y completo) en el parque de ECEViernes 24 de mayo 9:00-10:45 kinder y 1o en en el campoViernes 24 de mayo 1:00-2:40 2o-5o grado en el campo RECORDATORIOS: Los estudiantes necesitarán zapatos cerrados para el día de campo. LOS ESTUDIANTES DEBEN EVITAR FLIP FLOPS o sandalias con la punta abierta. Hay algunas estaciones de agua pero NO necesitan traje de baño. | Art/Arte |  Congratulations to 2nd graders Oriah Miles, Dash Thornton, and Beck Ventura, 3rd graders Josie Hopkins, Marcos Vargas Trevizo, and Lona Henderson-Wells, 4th grader Espie Skaronea, and 5th graders Boone McNulty and Haru Alvarez! These students received recognition for their artwork at the Denver Art Museum for the Citywide Elementary Art Show during a ceremony on May 7th. We can’t wait to see what wonderful artwork students will submit for next year’s show!   Thank you to everyone who came to our very first student-made immersive “Meow Wolf” art exhibit! Students worked so hard all month on both individual and collaborative projects that were later put together to create an imaginative and interactive world. It was amazing to see the joy on our students’ faces as they explored each others’ sculptures, paintings, table forts, river stones, written story pieces, lanterns, soundscape, stopmotion videos, and more! I look forward to continuing this celebration of artistic mediums and world-building next year. | ¡Felicitaciones a los estudiantes de segundo grado Oriah Miles, Dash Thornton y Beck Ventura, a los estudiantes de tercer grado Josie Hopkins, Marcos Vargas Trevizo y Lona Henderson-Wells, a Espie Skaronea de cuarto grado y a Boone McNulty y Haru Alvarez de quinto grado! | Music/ Musica | Thank you to everyone that came out to support our young musicians at the World Music Festival last week. It was a great turn out and the students had an excellent performance. We are finishing up the semester with keyboards, drum sets and musical experiments on chrome music lab.
