Summary/Introduction:
This week at DCIS at Fairmont our 3rd – 5th graders worked super hard on their CMAS math assessment! 3rd and 4th grade are DONE with testing – we are so proud of them! Our 5th graders have one more test to take – Science – and will be done on Tuesday. Continue to send them lots of encouragement! Our kindergartners and Ms. V are working on beautifying some of our benches with the spirit of “Be a buddy, not a bully!” Also be aware we have a TON of events in April and May. Flyers and details will be posted in the weekly – we hope to see you all at one or more of our spring events: Día de los Niños, International Fest, VIP Breakfast, World Music Festival, Continuation—so much happening! Resumen/Introducción:
Esta semana en DCIS at Fairmont, nuestros alumnos de 3.º a 5.º grado se esforzaron muchísimo en su evaluación de matemáticas CMAS. ¡Los alumnos de 3.º y 4.º grado ya terminaron sus exámenes! ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de ellos! Nuestros alumnos de 5.º grado tienen un examen más que presentar, el de Ciencias, y terminará el martes. ¡Sigan enviándoles mucho ánimo! Nuestros alumnos de kínder y la Sra. V están embelleciendo algunas de nuestras bancas con el lema “¡Sé un compañero, no un abusador!”. También tengan en cuenta que tenemos un montón de eventos en abril y mayo. Publicaremos folletos y detalles en el boletín. Esperamos verlos a todos en uno o más de nuestros eventos de primavera: Día de los Niños, Festival Internacional, Desayuno VIP, Festival de Música del Mundo, Continuación… ¡Hay muchísimas cosas por hacer! ¡Gracias por su apoyo!

| Toys at School: NOT allowed Juguetes en la escuela: NO son permitidos | We are sending this reminder regarding the recent trend of some students bringing toys to school, including Pokémon cards and other trading cards. As communicated at the beginning of the school year, we have established this expectation to minimize distractions in the classroom. Unfortunately, we cannot manage students playing with these items during school hours. If a student brings a toy or cards to school, teachers will need to collect them and hold them until a family member can personally pick them up to prevent the items from getting lost. Issues like finding lost toys or trading card situations will not be handled by staff due to our no toy policy, so please help us prevent those situations by ensuring kids leave all of that at home. We appreciate your understanding and collaboration in this matter. Please note that we will continue to celebrate classroom achievements with stuffed animals or similar items, which are completely allowed in the classroom when students meet their goals. | Communication from PTA Comunicado de PTA (Asociación de Padres y Maestros) | Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week will be May 5-9. Sign up to bring a dish for the lunch on May 8th here, or send a card or other token of appreciation on May 6th. The PTA will continue to host a meet and greet on the third thursday of the month, at 3:05, on the playground, with a language exchange.
