Summary/Introduction:
This week at DCIS at Fairmont we had an amazing back to school night! Thank you to all who came out. We will be working on hanging all of the culture and identity projects in the main hallways, and will let you know when they are all up! Also be aware our first overnight with our fifth graders is next week! Thanks for your support!

| International Festival | We are getting ready for our annual International Festival on October 6th! We are hoping to bring in some really amazing performers this year – and we need your help! If you would like to donate to our International Festival Performer fund, please bring card, cash, or check to the front office and let them know it is for the International Festival! | BESS Surveys | At DCIS at Fairmont, and throughout DPS, we administer the BESS (Behavioral and Emotional Screening System) to support our students social and emotional well being. In grades K-5, all teachers do the BESS survey for their students. In grades 3-5, all students do the BESS survey for themselves. This year, we would like parents to do them for their kiddo as well! | Resources for Parent Learning! | FACE University is a resource and learning website for parents and families in the Denver metro area. Please share our upcoming virtual events with families. Tuesday, Aug. 29: School Emergency Protocols Join Kip Sixbury, DPS School Emergency Manager, to learn and ask questions about School Emergency Protocols practices at all Denver Public Schools. English and Spanish options are available. We will also give away tickets to the museum of Nature and Science! RSVP here. Thursday, Sept. 21: Supporting LGBTQ+ CommunityThis session will be hosted by Fortaleza Familiar to cover Parenting and Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth.
