Summary/Introduction:
This week at DCIS at Fairmont students have been training hard for our 11th Annual Love Your Neighbor Fun Run! See below for more information. Also be aware our 3-5th graders worked really hard on their literacy assessment – way to go! This week, they will take math. We also have our first overnight of the year, with our 1st graders in Ms. Bell and Ms. Liz’s classes going to the Denver Aquarium Thursday evening. Thanks for your support!

| Original Works Art Fundraiser | Hi families! It’s time for the second round of the Original Works art fundraiser. Between today and Monday 2/12 your student will bring home a piece of artwork they made and an order form for any product you’d like the artwork printed on. This is an optional way to help fund the Art department for materials for students. Orders also make great gifts for mother’s and father’s day! | Fun Run! – Feb 14th | We are excited to host our 11th annual Love Your Neighbor FUN RUN February 14th in the morning. This is a day to celebrate LOVE and connection with the community. Join us to cheer on our DCIS Monarchs as they run for 35-40 minutes at the FUN RUN! ECE-1st grade will be running here at the school. Depending on the temperature, we could start at 9:00 or 9:30. Each class will have a designated corner that they will receive marks and be cheered on by teachers/parents. The idea is to run as many laps as possible as a community.There aren’t any winners and it’s to push our endurance and engagement with the community. ECE-Elsner (RED), ECE-Frasier (GREEN), ECE-Larson (Purple), ECE-Cruz’ (Blue)K-Nuria (RED), K-Amy (Green), K-Verita (Blue)1st-Bell (RED), 1st-Goes (GREEN), 1st Liz (Purple)MIS-Sharon RED, GREEN, PURPLE Our older students in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade and 5th grade will be running at Dailey Park. Students will be walked down to the park by their teachers and parent helpers. Our 4th/5th graders will go through our back gate, down Elati street to meet at their matching corners. Our 2nd/3rd graders will go through our school parking lot and down 3rd Ave to Cherokee St to get to their corners. We are really pushing for teachers and parents to mark students at the flags this year, where the chalk X’s will be located to provide access for runners to use the outside sidewalk and rollers to have the space to continue to move. Our start time will depend on the arrival of students at the park. We will be departing the school at 9:00 am to walk down. 2nd Graders will be at the RED CORNER on Cherokee St3rd Graders will be at the BLUE CORNER on Cherokee St4th Graders will be at the GREEN CORNER on Elati St5th Graders will be at the PURPLE CORNER on Elati St If you are wanting to help mark students as they complete a loop, and cheer, please reach out to their teachers. If you are wanting to join in and participate with your student in moving and getting healthy, we’d love to have you! Lots of classrooms will be having Valentine celebration parties, if we could shift the overconsumption of sugar to healthier snacks, as students will be doing lots of running and movement and creating a space for healthier choices would be ideal. |

| Original Works Recaudación de fondos de arte | !Hola familias! Ya vino la segunda ronda de la colecta de fondos “Original Works.” Entre hoy y el lunes 12 de febrero, su estudiante traerá a casa una obra de arte que hizo en clase y un formulario de pedido. Pedir cosas imprimidas con la arte de su estudiante es opcional. Si eligen pedir algo, ayudará a financiar el departamento de arte para materiales para los estudiantes. ¡Los pedidos también son excelentes regalos para el día de la madre y del padre! Por favor entreguen los pedidos cualquier día hasta el 23 de febrero. Puede esperar recibir los pedidos el 29 de marzo. | Carrera Divertida! – Feb 14th | Estamos emocionados de organizar nuestra undécima carrera anual Love Your Neighbor FUN RUN el 14 de febrero por la mañana. Este es un día para celebrar el AMOR y la conexión con la comunidad. ¡Únase a nosotros para animar a nuestras Monarchas de DCIS mientras corren durante 35 a 40 minutos en FUN RUN! ECE-1er grado se llevará a cabo aquí en la escuela.Dependiendo de la temperatura podríamos empezar a las 9:00 o 9:30. Cada clase tendrá una esquina designada donde serán alentados y recibirán una marca por los maestros/padres. La idea es correr tantas vueltas como sea posible como comunidad. Nuestros estudiantes de 2do y 3er grado pasarán por el estacionamiento de nuestra escuela y bajarán por 3ra Avenida hasta Cherokee St para llegar a sus esquinas. Realmente estamos presionando para que los maestros y padres marquen a los estudiantes en las banderas este año, donde se ubicarán las X de tiza para brindar acceso a los corredores para usar la banqueta exterior y a los rodillos para tener espacio para continuar moviéndose.Nuestra hora de inicio dependerá de la llegada de los estudiantes al parque. Saldremos de la escuela a las 9:00 am para caminar. Los estudiantes de segundo grado estarán en la ESQUINA ROJA en la calle CherokeeLos estudiantes de 3er grado estarán en la ESQUINA AZUL en Cherokee St.Los estudiantes de 4to grado estarán en la ESQUINA VERDE en Elati StLos estudiantes de 5to grado estarán en la ESQUINA PÚRPURA en Elati St Si desea ayudar a marcar a los estudiantes mientras completan sus vueltas y animarlos, comuníquese con sus maestros. Si desea unirse y participar con su estudiante para moverse y estar saludable, ¡nos encantaría tenerlo! Muchas clases celebrarán fiestas de San Valentín, si pudiéramos cambiar el consumo excesivo de azúcar a meriendas más saludables, ya que los estudiantes correrán y se moverán mucho, y sería ideal crear un espacio para opciones más saludables. |
