It is a privilege to serve as the school principal at DCIS at Fairmont. My passion to support children in diverse communities has led me to work in DPS for over 10 years. During this time, I have served different roles in the DPS like classroom teacher, school leader, and district leader. In my most recent job, I worked 6 years as an assistant principal in a Dual Language School. My areas of specialization have been Dual Language instruction, Social Emotional support for students, Assessment Coordinator, English Language Instruction for student learning English as a second Language, Coaching adults, among others.

My special connections with DCIS at Fairmont revolve around its diversity and beautiful community. Its vision of curiosity and deep understanding of the world are very important to me as it is a great way to enhance student learning every day. Equally significant, the mission of this institution resonates deeply with my values, which emphasize fostering students’ abilities to cultivate meaningful relationships with both themselves and others. I am dedicated to facilitating cooperative and authentic learning experiences that empower students to thrive academically and personally.

Originally, I was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. My transition into a new country started at the age of 14 years of age. I take pride in successfully navigating the challenges associated with acquiring a second language and adjusting to a new educational system. Therefore, it is very important for me to bring my experience forward to students to motivate them and strategically support them in their academic experiences.

Personally, I love spending time with my two kids and my wife. We have similar passions, we play music, play soccer, and stay very active in different ways like hiking and enjoying the outdoors in our beautiful state.
