| This week at DCIS at Fairmont our 3-5th graders took the CMAS Literacy state assessment. We are SO proud of how much hard work our students put into each day of the assessment. They used their time, supported their classmates, and persevered when things got difficult. Next up – Math! Also be aware there are some big events this week! See below for more detail. There is NO SCHOOL on April 19th. Estamos MUY orgullosos de cuánto trabajo pusieron nuestros estudiantes en cada día de la evaluación. | April 18th Earth Day and STEM Event/ 18 de abril Día de la Tierra y evento STEM | Join us on April 18th from 1-2:45 for a celebration of our earth! See below for a schedule of events – we would love to have you join! 1-1:15: Earth day singing and drumming 1:15-1:25: Student Project Share-Out 1:25-1:45: Community Walkabout 1:45- 2:45: Festival, Booths, Activities 2:45: End event – back to class In the morning students will also get a fun STEM experience. Some of the drone pilots flying in for the Tiny Whoop Open will be flying a fun race in the Library. This is only for our students, but we wanted to share what they will be doing. | April 20th-21st Tiny Whoop Event/ 20 y 21 de abril Evento Tiny Whoop | The Tiny Whoop Open will host the Tiny Whoop World Championship Race at DCIS at Fairmont. Come watch the world’s fastest Tiny Whoop Drone pilots battle for this year’s title. Last year we created the most incredible and beautiful Tiny Whoop course to date, and this year we plan to blow that course out of the air with more airspace, more dynamic elements and a LOT more LED Lights!!! Students can attend Saturday and Sunday between 12-4pm. Students will be able to drive RC Cars, RC robots and fly Drone Simulators. HOPE TO SEE YOU FOR THE T.W.O 2! | El Tiny Whoop Open albergará la carrera del Campeonato Mundial Tiny Whoop en DCIS en Fairmont. Ven a ver a los pilotos de Tiny Whoop Drone más rápidos del mundo luchar por el título de este año. | Congratulations!/ ¡Felicidades! | Congratulations to 2nd graders Oriah Miles, Dash Thornton, and Beck Ventura, 3rd graders Josie Hopkins, Marcos Vargas Trevizo, and Lona Henderson-Wells, 4th grader Espie Skaronea, and 5th graders Boone McNulty and Haru Alvarez! These students’ artwork will be on display at the Denver Art Museum for the Citywide Elementary Art Show April 12 – May 16. Come by the museum to see our students’ work!
