Amanda Mares is a second grade teacher who has been teaching early elementary students in Denver since 2012. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado in 2010, and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Denver in 2013. She has a passion for equity and justice, and seeks to build strong communities in her school and classroom. She is dedicated to the ideas of education as liberation, and joy in learning. You can find her playing with her baby girl, Lilia, trekking through the mountains, listening to live music, staring at colorful art, eating delicious food, or planning her next adventure when she’s outside of her classroom. She lives in Denver with her husband, David, daughter Lilia, and rascal pup, Leo.
