Meg grew up right outside of San Francisco, California. She grew up with a love for music, sports, and the outdoors. In middle school Meg started playing water polo. She played water polo and was on the swim team all through high school, and got a scholarship to play Division 1 water polo at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California. Meg grew up wanting to be a teacher, and graduated with a degree in liberal studies with minors in urban education and sociology. After college Meg went to graduate school to get her teaching certification and masters in teaching at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She joined Teach For America in Baltimore and taught 1st grade for 1 year and 5th grade for two years. In looking for a job closer to her family, Ms. Zimmerman found DCIS at Fairmont. She was a part of the founding staff as a third grade teacher. After 2 years in the classroom, Ms. Zimmerman took the position of International Studies Coordinator. She loves planning trips for students, attending overnights, and getting to know all of the kids at DCIS at Fairmont. On the weekends Ms. Zimmerman loves to travel, be outdoors, watch sports, read, and listen to music. She is an avid San Francisco Giants fan, Indianapolis Colts fan, and Oklahoma Sooners fan.
