Multiculturalism Meets Mindfullness

At DCIS at Fairmont, the neighborhood, the region, and the globe come together to create a context for the study of art, languages, social studies, mathematics and mindfulness that spurs curiosity, creates cultural awareness, encourages communication, and inspires leadership and action.

Our goal is to expand opportunities for our students by broadening their horizons. We want to create a place where children can grow academically and culturally, a place that prepares them to excel in middle school, high school and college, and a place that will empower them to be active citizens, engaged in their communities and the world.

Core Values

Education and Technology

dcis at fairmont

DCIS is a “1 to 1” school 3rd through 5th grade, meaning that each student in those grades has an iPad on which they do a significant amount of their school work.  We use apps like LightSail to read and Google Classroom to assign and grade work, and last year the 5th grade went paperless during the second semester.

We are able to manage the devices and distribute applications through MDM software, Airwatch, that gives us real-time reporting and data.  We use this information to ensure that each classrooms iPads are best tailored for the student’s needs, as well as to maximize safe and informed learning for all.  We have found that with more than 300 iPads in our school, technology can significantly enhance the learning experience when used correctly.
